Professional happiness is very important to maintain a good mental health. If your job is not fulfilling; it would take out a good amount of life force out of you. Service providers like me spend most of their daily time in the office. I personally follow a 9-6 PM exhausting job schedule, dealing with the overflow of clients all the day. Most days, I can’t leave my office before 7 PM. It takes me another 2 hours to reach home. My morning starts at 5 Am. I get ready start my journey to reach office at 7 AM. Most of the office goers in Bangladesh is following the same office routine every day. In this process, they are damaging their mental and physical health in a great extent. Here are some tips that to deal with work exhaustion in professional life.
Take care of your health:
Being responsible does not mean you have to forget everything else, including caring for yourself. Forgetting food and sometimes taking excessive caffeine to deal with everyday work is one thing that we all do. We need to remember if our health deteriorates in the long run, we won't able to work. Following a physical exercise routine is mandatory for every job holders. This could be for 30 minutes in a day. The caffeine limit must be controlled. Routinely manage sleeping time, and timely eat launch and breakfast. The importance of maintaining a healthy life is beyond comprehension to manage your work and personal life.
Avoid Toxic People:
The environment and work culture of workplace is a very important aspect that can affect mental and physical health. Working with toxic and negative people can be a damaging experience. Managers should value the time of employees. Before scheduling a meeting, the purpose and how the meeting would be conducted should be planned. This will make sure not to waste time. Meeting that are not well planned and has no purpose or goal is exhausting and ultimately don’t provide any fruitful outcome.
Work on something that you find exciting:
Human nature is built in a way that demands excitement and thrill. We are fond of sports and challenging work because we find it thrilling. If you don’t find your work thrilling you should re-consider your profession.
Invest in fast and comfortable vehicles:
I personally spend around 3 hours every day on public transportation. Traffic jam can take away a great portion of time and this can be very exhausting. This is one of the major causes of exhaustion for me. Though private car is a comfortable travel option, it does not help with traffic in Dhaka. On the other hand, we have motorbikes and bicycles, which is a faster option. Bikes can be bit exhausting too; however, it is far better option than public transport.
Living near to your office is another option that you can use to manage exhaustion.
Human are different and everyone has unique abilities. It is important to find out what you want and your unique abilities are. My suggestion is experiment find out what you like, don’t be influenced or misguided by people around you. I hope these tips will help you to reduce work life exhaustion.
